I Think It's Time To Move!

We live in a pretty weird neighborhood in White Bear Lake. We're only about a block and a half from the south shoreline, but you'd think we were living in Hazzard County the way people live around here. Of course, if we had a cooky Sherriff, a mechanic named Cooter and a moonshine-running, incestual family with a bright orange stock car in our neighborhood, things would be a little different.

The picture above is the neighbors across the street, to the West. They used to be some of the normal ones. The people to the North of them have a German Shepard that is inside 1% of the week, leaving it to bark at anything, and everything, the other 99% of the time.
To our East, across the fence lining the back of our lot, is a woman who comes home, lets her two Labradors out, goes to the bar and doesn't let the dogs back in until around 2:00 a.m. We are cornered by the constant barking of a German Shepard and two Labradors.

This brings us to the neighbors who we like...or at least aren't bothered by.
Our next-door neighbor to the North has a wonderful Golden Retriever who never barks. However, our neighbor bought a hot tub last October and spent every night in it--literally--until late January. I don't mind that she uses the hot tub every night, but I do mind that the Bob Seger is up loud enough to drown out the sound of the whirlpool jets (and probably the barking dogs). The music usually goes off around 1:30 a.m., but sometimes she forgets to turn it off before going to bed.
Our next-door neighbor to the South is pretty mild. They are empty-nesters who don't have a dog. They have an outdoor cat who likes to fight with another outdoor cat, usually on our front door step. Jenne and I hate cats anyway, but we really don't need feral cat sounds on our doorstep to add to the hatred. The endearing part about these neighbors is that he likes to tune his Harley on the weekends, always listening to Elvis. 1970's-Vegas Elvis...the good stuff.

Back to the picture. These people are a pretty quiet, young couple who don't have pets and don't make much noise. They drive a Saturn and had an Obama sign in their window last year. I have no reason not to like them.
However, two days ago they installed a new mailbox painted black with hot rod flames. They've also acquired a boat to spruce-up the front yard. They've been sucked in.

I'm really glad we get to leave this neighborhood before the disease spreads to 4194 Homewood. We're down to two "normal" neighbors; Bob Seger in the hot tub until 1 a.m., and Vegas-Elvis on a Harley every Saturday and Sunday.
